Allen, TX ranks as 9th Safest City for the 3rd Time!

A City Crime Rankings study, published by CQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly Inc., was based on the FBI’s 2010 statistics report. The report examined more than 400 communities with at least 75,000 people based on per-capita rates for homicide, robbery, rape, burglary, aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft.

Nationwide, Allen is ranked 9th overall (cities with a population of more than 75,000) and 8th in their population category (cities with a population between 75,000 and 99,999). In the CQ report, Allen was listed first in Texas, making it the safest city in Texas.

Frisco, Texas was ranked at 14. McKinney was ranked at 41. Plano at 58. No wonder so many people are moving to Allen, Texas and the surrounded cities. According to Forbes Magazine, the Dallas Fort Worth area was one of the fastest growing areas of the country.

So How did Texas Escape the Real Estate Crisis?

I guess “crisis” is a relative term, isn’t it?   There is an interesting article in the    Washington Post about how the Texas Homestead laws prevented alot of Texans from taking ” cash out” home equity loans and this played a part in helping Texans escape the worse of the meltdown.

Washington could learn a lesson or two from Texas.
